What is TÜV?

TÜV is an independent private inspection institute which developed from the former "Boiler Inspection Association" established in 1870 and is given authorization by the government. Its basic mission is "to protect human beings and property from damaging influence by technical facilities and fuels."

Today the institute has laboratories in 11 states in Germany and has expanded its duties to include high-pressure equipment, automobiles and drivers, various industrial equipment and facilities, energy related equipment, and environmental safety. For electrical equipment, it performs inspection and certification based on VDE and IEC standards.

TÜV approval is equally effective, wherever it may be obtained. Fuji Electric's products are approved for safety by TÜV Rheinland, a TÜV laboratory in Rheinland state.
